Slip

Between my Friday work day being busier than expected, my parents needing help over the weekend, Saturday not being as carefree as expected, my friends making plans and expecting me to join in, and more than a little bit of schoolwork getting in the way, I was unable to get the update out by the planned date.

Still working on it when I can (and when I'm not too exhausted to concentrate), but I'm starting to think that release dates might not be the best idea.

  2. Glad to hear that you havent given up on it, I was started to get worried. I'll be patiently waiting for it to come out so I may donate.

  3. The best way to handle a release date is to announce it after you finished coding the new features for everything, and you're just doing the bug fixes and other fine tuning.

  4. I agree on a game that you are creating for fun it is a good idea to just go at your own pace

  5. We don't need a release date :D

take a few months off :D

we'll be here when you come back :D

  6. Fuck it just put a release date of "When I feel like it mother fuckers." The message will get across.

  7. i think it was mass confusion on the understanding of the difference between

    A PLANNED release date

    and a

    release date

what is there really to worry about, some Planned ones you pull through, and others are missed, no big problem, its not like it was Armageddon, some troll got a carrot where the sun don't shine and had the nerve to call it "creativity"

but true fans of the game are patient

  8. I don't expect or demand anything. That being said, I like little status updates. Even if it is just something simple like: swamped with work and family obligations.

I just like to know that things are being thought of even if they are not being actively worked on.

It sounds silly, but it is as much about the personality behind the game as it is the game itself.

  9. I am just happy that you haven't given up. I love the game but nothing should come at the expense of your personal life. I personally would prefer a quality game over a hastily slapped together piece of garbage that looks like a game.

  10. Release dates really aren't a good idea. Because when you don't live up to them people get upset because you got their hopes up. They don't care if you just say you'll update when you can. BTW hun I was the troll and am a perfect example as to why you shouldn't get people's hopes up and then crush them. Progress reports would be nice but putting a big sign that says 'I MIGHT update on this day' is a bad idea.

  11. You should post 1 when you've made sure ur schedule is clear, and you got like 50%-75% Done so far o that way chances of missing the date are Slim an you have a better form of prediction

  12. So your running on Valve time now? XD

    1. Dude, don't say that. It's gonna be delayed another week. =\

    2. No take a look at the algorithm. It's very complex at first but it makes eventually.

  13. honestly i like your previous update format better; yeah it was kind of a when ever it happens it happens kind of thing, but i was excited to check everyday and see what was going on. now if a check twice a week that's a lot.

    1. Same here.

The little updates model may have caused problems without some form of streamlining the save system for better compatibility between versions, but it always added this little element of excitement to check for new NPCs or items.

Once a week is still kind of too often to check in this current model, sadly, and I think that sort of hurts the charm this game had back when I first found it.

There's something to be said of checking each day for something new. I think that's something Fenoxo does really well with CoC, though it seems like Cursed isn't as friendly for that update pace.

  14. take a month break or so and come back relaxed and rested
rather you miss a few updates then have this game end up in the unfinshed section

  15. Take your time. I learned not to plan any release date for my game unless I am really, REALLY close to it, too, so I perfectly understand your doubts about it. :)

  16. I've seen that happen way to often, experienced it myself once or twice.

Look. It's obvious that you don't want to work on Cursed at the moment. You know have to decide between two things: Either get your shit together and force yourself to certain standards as you would with a paying job OR take a extended break - preferably the latter.

Otherwise your schedule will slip more and more as you lose all motivation to do something that isn't fun for you anymore, making up excuses along the way, maybe even believing them yourself, until one day, you'll notice that you haven't done anything for it in weeks and, rather than catching up, you decide that you are more comfortable without that workload and might even vanish without a word and pick up a new nickname. I once did on, on a sgnificantly smaller project with less pressure.

So put it on hiatus as long as you still have some love for it left. Play some games in a smiliar vein itself. Surf around the net doing nothing constructive. Or maybe start on that other project you mentioned to want to try a long time ago.
People will complain, but at the end, we'd rather have Cursed finished in a year or towthan having another handfull of small updates before it is abandoned forever, like countless webcomics or the games Hentai High and Sim Brothel and their remakes.

    1. Yeah, what he said. If you need a break just take one. I know some people will dislike you if you do, but the true fans will still like you and still will be here when you return.

    2. Yeah, that's a precious advice. Take care of yourself before all else AM.

    3. only people who would dislike him are the ones who do not understand the effort it takes to make large games like this one
personaly there thoughts really should not matter

look at the game babbysitting cream for example
it took like a year for any real update to happen
fans still stood by the makers side and was rewarded with a fun game in the end

if you force your self to do this game you will loose intrest in it
just do what you can when you can and feel like it
do not set any dates for completed updates
and if any 1 ask just say it will be updated when it is posted lol

  17. take yer time AM. I'm really interested to see what your doing for the werewolf, hopefully fixing it, it liked to forget the monthly transformations while you were under the effects of other transformations. also, more dicksucking scenarios would be welcome.

    1. Well, I like it personally: it's really convenient in this kind of game :)

    2. To be honest, I like it too. But I don't like the save/load issue.

  19. While I agree that you can work on the game at your own pace, I do hope that you finish this update before going on any hiatuses/breaks because it sounds like that it is at least half done already and I have been wanting to see the multiples pregnancy implemented since at least april.

But as other people have said, I think that planned release dates could still work, just put them down when it is unlikely that you will miss them.

    1. Another good idea is instead of saying a specific date give a month you plan to release in instead. This allows us to know you still are working, but it gives you a little wiggle room when reality decides to rear its ugly head. If you want to put a specific date on later you can do it right before the release.
