Update 1/17

Starting feeling unwell. Had to stop.

Major Updates
- Sisters Sophia and Marie now have unique dialogue options. The other nuns will as well, but as I said above, I started feeling ill, so I couldn't finish. Sophie is 90% done, but her sex scenes aren't unique yet.

Minor Updates
- Removed the Weight Loss Powder. People simply were not getting that it doesn't actually work (like weight loss powders in real life!). Weight Gain Powder is still available though.
- Disabled the Pray option temporarily from the church pew. Apparently, some people don't like the religious implications. I will be adding it back later after I rework it some.

Bug Fixes
- Altered the Get Dressed command at the strip club. It will only put on articles of clothing that are in your locker, now.
- Robot transformation wasn't progressing past the first stage. Problem was improperly nested if/then trees. Fixed it.
- Player wasn't getting the option of using a condom during sex, and wasn't having their period. Fixed.
- Some of the lines for Inhuman traits were showing twice. Fixed.

  1. Maybe placing the praying back with an option to have that blocked?

  2. Well, I think that you should take out the magic because I don't like the metaphysical implications.

  3. Some people are just too sensitive and/or yanking your chain.
BTW I don't like rags can you reprogram it all in flash? JK

  4. How about two options to pop up:

    1. 'Consider religion' - "You consider how religion is used as a form of mind control. It's used to control people's attitude toward other humans and their beliefs, how its used to control sex and education. You feel a bit wiser." - Raises character's INT by 1.

    2. 'Pray' - "You pray to the sky-people in the hope that they turn their eye upon you out of six billion other human beings and billions of billions of other creatures" - Raises characters Manipulation by 1, Lowers characters Int by 1 no lower than 10.

    2. 3. Perform some sacrilegious act (masturbate with a cross you bought from the mall?)

      -5 morality

    3. Yeah forgot about the morality part, my apologies. So here are the options with the added morality changes:

(Revised, since my opinion is that religion has nothing to do with morality other than the ability to make you commit crimes that you otherwise wouldn't were you not controlled by it. And since the /point/ of the topic was to change morality as AMan says :))

      1. "Consider" - Int + 1, Mora +2, Manip +0
      2. "Pray" - Int -1 (NLT 15), Mora +5, Manip +2
      3. "Debase/Masturbate" - Int +0, Mora -5, Manip +3

      Delete
  5. It always amazes me how closed minded people who claim religion is closed minded can be. (2 points if you can understand that without reading it twice)

Anyway, if they don't like prying for the religious implications then why are they ok with there being a church in the game at all or any of the other activities related to the church? What about the religious implications of witchcraft and magic? I'm sure there are many people who play this game that have a strong aversion to futa, so are you gonna take futa out of the game as well? What about people who prefer strait sex over lesbian sex, are you gonna take out all the lesbian scenes?

The point is who fucking cares? If you don't like the pray option then don't use it, simple. It's not like this game has any affect or implications on your life or the real world at all. If that were the case then every guy who plays this game is gay because at the start you are forced to have sex with a guy.

Seriously, the stupidity of some people.

    1. Apologies to AnonymousMan for the rudeness. I can get carried away sometimes. I don't retract my statements (I stand by what i said) but I do retract the tone, can I do that? Anyway, sorry.

    2. The funny thing is that the point that you missed was outside of Cursed. It's not that the Pray option is there in Cursed, thats not the problem. Instead maybe you should read the text in the posters quote signs ("") to see what their opinions on religion are and how that could be tied into the Cursed game.

Pretty transparent actually, unlike say... religion :D

      Delete
    3. Well I get that the problem people have is with tying religion to morality when in the real world most religious people are not moral and many nonreligious people are. (or at least that's what I got from people's posts)

I just though it was kind of ridiculous to worry about such a real world issue in a game, especially one that covers so many topics that could be strongly controversial for people in the real world.

My fear was about conforming to people's pet peeve's about religion and such and ending up cutting things out of the game because of it, but in the end as long as AnonymousMan makes a great game it doesn't really matter.

    4. I agree, Anonymous Jan 18th, completely with that sentiment. Taking that into account I think its up to Cursed fans to suggest (And donate for!) ideas to replace it that don't tie morality into religious bob/beliefs. :)

  6. Alexis is being about as subtle as a brick to the teeth, however it does show that this topic is going to cause a lot of contention.

But using Alexis system, I'll choose option 2: +1 to a stat I may use, and -1 to a stat that the game doesn't acknowledge :D

  7. I don't remember if this was answered somewhere else before, but... Are saves for previous versions (like 1-15) compatible with the new ''game'' version (here, 1-17) ?

Also, yeeeeah... Praying ? In a church ? How scandalous !! (I'm sarcastic here, by the way)...
Really, how can we have a church in a game, without the praying and stuff ? (personally, I don't especially care. But, I don't see the logic of those who complain about 'praying' in a church... It's a CHURCH ! It's almost in the definition of the place.)

Magical/Chemical Breast Enhancement enhance breasts... Weight loss powder should reduce weight... and churches have good/evil duality and praying.
    -Logic.

    1. ignoring the whole church morass for a moment i move on to your end statement: the fact that the weight loss powder doesn't work IS logical. it is predicated on the idea that there has yet to be an actual "magic pill" for lack of a better phrase that actually works as it should with no serious side effects. therefor weight loss powder causes weight gain due to the side effects of the chemicals in it and/or the magic that turned the pc into a chick in the first place.

p.s. i have no problem with the church scenes even including the pray action myself as i realize that this is a game and not me actually making fun of religion. i mean come on, you can corrupt the whole church and everyone in it turning it into a big 'ol slutaploosa and people are stuck on A.M. giving the pc an option to make a moral choice and seek guidance from god?
      ... *rant mode disengage* :P

    2. I'm honestly fine with weight loss being taken out. If it did work, i think it would be too easy a solution to the weight issue. And since it didn't it was just a simple joke item of little consequence.

That said, I think there IS logic to having it work. Since the premise of the game's body changes is a desire for a different body type, using weight loss powder would indicate a desire for weight loss. Irregardless of whether or not it would work if you were not cursed, being cursed could cause it to work for you. Again, I'm not arguing for it, I can just see how some might expect it to work.

    3. >the weight loss powder doesn't work IS logical.
      >it is predicated on the idea that there has yet to be an actual "magic pill" (...) that actually works as it should with no serious side effects.
-Hummmmm... we have like 10 different super-hyper-chemical and/or magic ''herbs'', pills, injections, and other stuff like that...
I mean, really... we can drink ''bottles of milk'' and mysteriously grow a cock in 7days or so, but we can't have *something, anything* resembling a solution that would reduce 'fat' ?
I find this quite odd, considering what there's available in the game... just saying.

      Delete
    4. Wait a second, there's all sorts of chemicals that either make your body unable to absorb fats (And therefore shit it out) or suppress your appetite (As found in Gurana and McDonalds food) and then there's the metabolic enhancers. However I must state that these items are an /AIDE/ to weight-loss and MUST NEVER be soley relied upon for weight loss.

Weight loss powders do exist but they are to be combined with a healthy diet and exercise, a little exercise at first to remind your body to break the stored fats down and then as the weight comes off you can do more and more exercise as your heart strengthens and the fat layer around it slowly gets shredded.

So weight loss not working is purely AMan's opinion, and thats just fine :D

As for the prayer stuff, since there's no place for Atheists to go to and consider the world (They can do that wherever they please) and there's a church already in the Cursed game, my suggestions were intended to add minimal extra code to the game though now I consider it I should have done a donation to get it in (Fool!)

  8. Yes, praying in a church. How positively beyond the pale. *rolls eyes*

As for the weight loss powder, put a disclaimer in the description (Like "Warning, product may not work as advertised") and then you have a legitimate reason to insult people who keep bugging you about it.

    1. You said suggestions are welcome, so I'll throw an idea out there. I don't know if this is the right place for this but here it goes:

What if upon reaching a high level of Magic Proficiency (say lvl 70-Wizard), the girl at the Magic shop tells you about some witch covens you can go join if interested. One may be something like Wiccan which is doesn't affect morality, and the other could be devil worshippers giving you negative morality for going. Maybe each has a specialized spell you can only purchase from the head witch in each coven. And of course, once you join one you can no longer join the other.

As for the spells, the devil worshipers could give you a spell that adds points to the succubus transformation, or maybe gives you hypnotic vampire eyes to aid in seduction. Or maybe a powerful destruction spell when that is implemented.

Then the Wiccans could give you a spell dealing more with nature or animals. Maybe give you animal senses. Or perhaps introduce a forest nymph transformation.

Really there are a lot of possibilities for this.

I suppose you could also opt for a third "holy coven" which increases morality and offers a spell that gives something like a halo or angel wing transformation. Perhaps this coven would be hidden in the basement of the church.

      Delete
    2. Well instead of a holy coven of witches perhaps more along the lines of an exorcist group under the church. And if magic is going to face further expansion it makes sense that each potential magic faction has more than one unique spell with each relying on more than a single stat perhaps meaning although a morally upright character may be able to join a cult of devil worshipers and learn the spells their morality might make it difficult for them to cast the spell. And depending on the number of magic using factions it might be possible to join multiple ones which are neutral or allied although with each new one joined it would cut off new options.

      Delete
  12. If praying is taken out, is another option for increasing morality being considered?

I guess there is always community service...

Also, is morality going to be added to the skills/sexuality list so we can know where we stand? Although maybe vitals would be a more appropriate location.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There are other possibilities for raising morality in the game already. The problem is that they're random. The church is intended to be a place where you can raise morality.

Clarification: I have removed the "Pray" option until I reword it.

Morality will never be something you can directly monitor, by design. There are ways to indirectly monitor it (the chastity belt, the special outfit), but you'll never be able to see it directly because you're not supposed to know where you currently stand. If you want to have good morality, be good. If you want bad morality, be bad. Most (if not all) morality choices will be obvious.

    2. So basically if the option to join a nun orgy pops up in the future, a "good" person would keep their panties on. But then again, where's the fun in that ^^

      Delete
  13. Perhaps instead of 'praying' its something like. "Ponder" with "Reflecting upon your past actions in the silence of the church..." Or the like

    ReplyDelete
  14. Still haven't figured out how to do anything with the nuns. Only Marie will speak with me - I do see other nuns show up, but their description is just 'nun' and they will not interact beyond an examine.

Marie always has the same work / talk / flirt options. Working always does nothing, flirting always closes off the convent. Maybe 50% of the time talking gives 3 more choices [pray / masturbate / 'help']. No matter how many times I seem to pick any of these, nothing happens. I've tried suggesting masturbation 30 times in a row over the course of 2 game months, and then offering to 'help' 10 times afterwards - no responses ever change.

Is that all there is now? The patch notes seem to suggest there's a lot more.

    1. Thats weird. I suggested masterbation only twice before I suggested to help her and then followed through on that offer. Then again, that was in the last patch. Maybe a bug popped up in this one?

  15. I also disagree with 'pray' being disabled/removed from the Church. As, this is a church, praying is a large part of the purpose of a Church.

  16. Im atheist, but the game needs this design element.
A bit of rewording and you're golden.

Just change the action name depending on the characters morality.
Low morality is nap on the pews, regular would be meditate/think solemnly?, high would be back to pray.

Gives players a chance to choose, doesn't come off as douchey, and makes sense in game.

    1. I can totally agree on this.

-I guess people can reply to this comment to also show they would approve of this Multi-option.

    2. good idea dude, kinda cool if your morals actually affected what you did while sitting there. only with low morals after a point id suggest instead of napping you did something extreme like after abit it becomes "day dream about sex" and then once your even farther in the gutter you act on those day dreams by masturbating or something.

  17. I think that the real problem with having prayers is that it is in a *game*. Players will not know if actually praying will have a game plot effect or not, like being able to hook up with a religious NPC or some other effect. Thus some or most players will explore it, simply because it exists. This may happen even if it offends their sensibilities, like being an atheist or of another religion, making some players to feel that the author is trying to influence their personal beliefs even if it is untrue. Also, please keep in mind that not all players are religiously tolerant or enlightened and that the game started off with zero religious tendencies.

On the topic of Morality, in my humble opinion, being "propositioned for sex" shouldn't be a morality issue, but an issue of sexual inhibition. This situation is identical to working as a hooker, so to be morally penalised in this random event, you should also be morally penalised when working as a hooker. (I don't want to be forced to play as a morally bankrupt brothel madam-cum-whore.) Furthermore, there should be a third option, the non-committal gentle refusal for no effect, like: "I'm sorry, but my friends are expecting me."

And here's a thought. Morally upright whores earn less from whoring, but encounters higher paying events a little more often or have better customer loyalty. For example, she earns 75% of what a morally bankrupt whore earns, but the college fraternities like her better, because she is both a nicer person and cheaper to gangbang. And if she gets a loyal clientèle, she may randomly get extra tips for being the awesome lay that she is.

  18. When returning from the beach, the game would leave whatever I was wearing prior to visiting the beach in my inventory, yet not put it on. The option to put those clothes on is not available, and I can only examine it. This strands the article in the inventory, unable to be used. This happened with both the sweatsuit, and the elegant dress.

  19. Ha-ha, so basically the church is now solely for sex? If you don't want to offend anyone and be politically correct, then don't do a porn game. Otherwise, buck up, because people who aren't okay with the idea that someone might take comfort in prayer are more than a little retarded, and that's what basically happens. The character prays, and it feels better. There should be a way to accomplish the same thing (gain morality), like maybe help out at a homeless shelter, donate your ill-fitting clothes or some money to charity. I realize that most of the people who would play this aren't all that, or even at all, religious, neither am I, but this is bordering on theophobia and should not be encouraged.

    1. You don't have to think about it as rude sleeping. Something like;

You sit at the pew and think about your actions over the last few days. Recounting all your misdeeds makes you tired, and you find yourself napping on the back of the pew in front of you. You wake up and wipe your drool off, feeling a little better about yourself.

Also as an alternative when you visit church the first time it can pop-up asking how your character feels about the church. You can choose to go for it, or say its not your style changing the text and options for encounters there.
