There Will Be Stream

So I'm planning on streaming tonight, working on ye olde game, of course. There's just one problem. I don't want to start anything new because it would take too long and prevent me from throwing out an update, so I'd rather work on something existing, get it towards completion (something that's not career related).

The problem is, there are so many things in the game that are incomplete, I've got so many choices that I don't know what to work on. I am paralyzed by indecision.

So, here's where you come in. Leave a comment with what you'd like me to work on tonight and I'll see what I can do. Some things are not going to be available, like jobs, because that's reserved for Thursdays. But just about anything else is fair game.

  28. It would be nice if relationships got worked on. Isn't the whole reason your character is turned into a woman because he was flirting around with too many people? Then afterwards, all you can do right now is fool around with a bunch of different people. Seems kind of counter productive to the lesson you're supposed to be being taught.

  34. I d not know if the nuns are going to be considered a part time job or anything but I would love for them to be compleate.

    I also think that pregnancy and the things assocated with it you could do more with....

    Lastly maybe socail interatction with your apearance or new events...?

  38. Gah, I wrote too much. Have to break this in two.

    Well, if I may add my two cents, I'd suggest the following to be worked on:
    1)Relationships. As others have mentioned, the main character was turned into a girl as punishment for his womanizing to teach him a lesson. I highly doubt Maria's intended that lesson to be how to dress pretty and how easy it is for a girl to have a guy stare at her breasts. Most likely it involves the terrible feeling of actually being interested in someone, and then just having them completely ignore them after the fact, thereby showing how fragile the human heart is. I have to admit, I'm a little surprised at how little relationships the character has. I mean, I know the character's whole life has changed, and old ties have been cut, but geeze, it's like she's the most antisocial person ever. I'd expect her to actually try to get at least a few friendships going, even if it's only with another stripper/secretary. So far, the only person she can talk to on a regular basis is Genevieve. Sure, she's interesting and all, but after you get her number, she just sorta stops saying anything relevant. Speaking of the uprooting of her life, I'm surprised she hasn't tried to at least visit her old friend's work. If she's in her mid twenties when she's changed, it's quite reasonable to assume that at least one of her old friends either's accessible through work, not her old one of course, but highschool/college friends. There is the bar, but those conversations don't carry over to really mean anything.

      Relationships are something I'm planning on working on, along with some other things that will allow the player to develop friendships or ties to other people. The mail slot was added as part of the first phase of that new direction: allowing the player to interact with their family.

    2. I like the mail slot! It was quite a good idea, and heartwarming to read the mother's letter.I'm very curious how it will all play out. Especially since I'm probably going to have the character fess up every time, as I would be more worried about her getting caught lying. Then, not only do you have to convince the mother at that very moment that you are/were her son, but you also have to put up with her anger and hurt feelings for the character not trusting her.

      Huh, I just realized that family holiday's would be really awkward. One's where you would meet extended family, as I always find them to be less accepting of one's faults and oddities. A son suddenly becoming a daughter would be quite the whispered uproar. Good thing for magic, though that's assuming the player has access to it and not completely ticked off Maria yet.Then again, you could always just opt out of those get togethers.

      Anyways, I am looking forward to what you have planned,AM. Keep up the excellent work! :D

  39. 2) Streamlining. Okay, the game is amazing, and I want this fact to be made clear. I can definately see the hard work and effort you put into this, as well as your other games, and appreciate them. Hoowwwever, the game needs to have some streamlining, as it just feels like a lot of real time is spent on a single day in the game. A particuraly aggravating item is makeup. Yes, makeup kit, I will choose the exact same thing I choose everyday. My aggitation with that kit isn't the point though. (Okay, maybe a little...). Another example is the closet, but that's kinda to be expected. Also, work, is sorta a time sink too. Now, this isn't a design flaw or anything, it's just to be expected in a game this huge, and a game that intends to be as long as Cursed. They're tiny little pockets of time sinks, each small and minuscule, but after making the decision 364 times, it's a huge amount of time the player sinks into these things. Say it takes ten seconds to pick the makeup the character will wear. That's an hour spent on choosing makeup in a complete game session. Add on another hour for going through the closet, cause you have the character work out, and therefore have to change into something job appropriate, because as much as I wish she worked at the gym, so she wouldn't have to change again, she doesn't. Oh, and underwear. I personally keep forgetting which drawer they're in, so I end up spending more time here, that's my own stupidity though, and will only be fixed by my own wising up. The point is that all these things add up to one huge amount of time disappearing, and can actually discourage players from doing certain things. The player definately will have a new respect for how long it takes a fair portion of girls to get ready, at least. Which is kinda a neat effect, to be honest. I can't really think of any 'correct' way to set such a massive system up. I feel like a way to make everyday tasks, such as what outfit you wish to put on, which makeup, showering, and such should have an optiong to have a static answer. I can also see where this may conflict with your ideal, though. I understand the purpose is partly about having all these choices, which is what makes it so awesome, but at the same time, they're sufficating the game. It's like a GM that goes into 2 minute description everytime you can see a new part of the cave wall. Eventually, the sessions just start taking too long, and people stop coming, as they feel like they aren't advancing at all. Making these choices toggable would give the player more time to take in the story and the characters you create. Also, it lets those who wish to forgo showering, makeup, or underwear the option to all the same. They can still enjoy that portion of the game no problem. It's just something that would be appreciated, I'm sure. I understand that creating such loops can be a pain though, so it's understandable if you don't do anything with it.

    1. I do think about streamlining quite a bit, actually, but for now I'm working on content delivery. Once the game is actually mostly complete (hopefully sometime this summer), I'll be looking at all the systems and asking questions about what works, what needs improvement, and what's just plain annoying. At that point I'll be streamlining almost exclusively in preparation for a final release.

      But your comment does not fall on deaf ears, rest assured.

    2. Thanks for taking it into consideration. I understand content delivery is the pressing issue right now. I also know you have streamlined it some already.(Yay, not having to eat every meal from the fridge or pop a birth control pill every day!) I just also remember that these systems are also really finicky, and would sometimes implode on themselves.(Curse you Tampons!)

      The reason I focused more of the writing on it though was because I personally feel like it might be the greatest challenge if experience with the past systems is any indication. Not only that, but balancing out what needs to be streamlined and what doesn't in the end is a daunting task. Yeesh. ;>>

      Yet, it's number 2 because, truthfully, it's not that pressing right now. With the current testing item, players don't need to go to work, and can skip days if they're just trying to look at specific effects, as testers normally do. Hence, it's more of a moot point right now. Yay moot point!
